Praveen

Blogging is a one sided conversation.  I guess it’s not totally one sided because I usually have a conversation with myself as to what I should say in my post.  I start thinking about little things that happen during a shoot and begin weaving them together with other thoughts to try express something that I would like to remember.   Sometimes the conversation spills  out and my husband will ask me who I’m talking to.  Well….myself, of course!  Isn’t that obvious!   Rashmi called me to come to her home at take some pictures of her two children, Praveen and Uma.   As it happened, Uma had taken a nap that day and was sleeping when I arrived so I spent quite a bit of time with Praveen.  When Uma did wake up,  she wasn’t interested in having a stranger follow her around taking pictures.  I really can’t blame her.  It’s hard to wake up after a good nap much less be excited about being photographed.  Instead of forcing the issue, Rashmi just let it go.  Refreshing.  I only made two images of Uma that day with her tentative permission.

Here’s Praveen.

The Galangs

For the last 2 years, my friends, the Galangs, let me create whatever type of image I have in my froggy brain  for their Christmas cards.  This year, I had them out on one of those cold windy nights that we get here in the desert.  I was disappointed that it was so windy.  It’s hard to do a painting with light portrait with balloons going crazy in the wind.  It did make for some funky portraits.  I love these walls we have in our neighborhood.  They’re so…basic.   Maybe a  little grungy but not in a cool way… just a regular way.  I guess I like them so much because I’m always trying to photograph regular things in a way that makes them an interesting part of the image.

I thought it would be fun to post last years images of the Galangs.

And here’s the image that I made of Tracy last year at the corner of our neighborhood.  I know that I’ve posted this image last year but I love this image and I wanted to share it again.

Zuniga Family

Valerie and her daughters Justice and Samatha, met with me down the hill in Redlands for their holiday photos.   We really enjoyed ourselves in Sylvan Park.  Such a variety of locations and beautiful mature trees.  I enjoy the desert but I really miss the trees.

The Earle Family

When Paul said that he had some idea’s about our photo session, I was a little concerned.   It’s not that people shouldn’t have an idea of what they want but I was worried that maybe I couldn’t make the images that he had in his head.   Getting the ideas from his head to my head, there might be something lost in the translation.  So when he said that they wanted to do photos on the trampoline, I thought this is right up my alley.  In fact, I’ve been wanting to do some trampoline pictures.  But how do you talk a family into doing that?  First you need to find a trampoline and then find a family willing to jump on the trampoline.  Happy Happy Joy Joy.  The Earles did all of the work for me!

So here they are……

Paul the Patriarch of the family.  I know Charmaine must be proud of her man!!
