I photographed my first “Destination Wedding” last Friday! Well, technically all the weddings that I photograph are “Destination Weddings” since they’re not in my front yard. I should say that it was my first wedding outside of California. Tenille and Kalati had their ceremony at Parker Dam in AZ. Since Tenille is a friend of a friend, she invited my whole family to come along. That was so nice! We drove from our desert home to another desert. You know, there’s a lot of desert out there. It just went on and on and on.
I was so impressed to hear that Tenille made all the floral arrangements, decorated the entire reception area, made all of the menu/event brochures while working and taking care of her family. I told this to my husband while wondering why I can’t seem to find enough time to run my business and take care of my 2 year old during the day (my son is in school most of the day). Well, maybe some things are meant to stay a mystery.
You can see the slide show here.
Here’s the island where Tenille and Kalati had their ceremony. I actually took this image the next morning with that delicious morning light.

This is actually one of my favorite images. It’s hard to explain. I love the desert. It was hot and Tenille’s veil was blowing. If I had a larger vocabulary, I’d be able to tell you exactly why I like it. I guess it was one of those quiet moments between moments.

I love this picture (above). Sometimes the simple images are the most interesting. It’s all about Tenille, not the background or the flowers, just Tenille.

Is this hillarious?
This last photo was a my attempt to do a painting with light portrait with A LOT of people. I think it came out pretty good except that I was so focused on lighting everyone within the 30 second exposure that I forgot to make sure that you could see Tenille and Kalati. They’re back there somewhere!
