Non-Traditional Wedding Photography
Itzel and Garrett were married on two weeks ago Saturday at the Hilton Hotel in Victorville, CA. I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to photograph this special day for the both of them. Itzel’s Quinceanera was my very first photography job and now I had the privilege of photographing her wedding. It felt wonderful to be welcomed back by her family to document another milestone for Itzel, Garrett and both of their families.

Dollie and Kimbell were married at Life Church last Sunday in Victorville. True to form, all of the members of Life Church pulled together to make this happen for Dollie and Kimbell in about a months time! WOW! They might of been short on time but not on love for this couple.
In my perfect world, I would not have meetings with the bride and groom but with their friends. So it would go something like this….meet with friends of the couple and have them give their toasts. You find out so much about a couple through their friends. Things that they would never, ever say about themselves are usually said during the toasts. Irene and Eugene’s friends delivered such wonderful speeches about their dear friends that it would make everyone want to be their friends. Toasts are now becoming a favorite part of the wedding day for me.

Irene had the most beautiful dresses including a traditional Chinese gown.

Ok…I felt a little out gunned here. Just about everyone had a camera or video camera!

Living in the desert, you would think that I’m always thinking of weather when comes to weddings. When I sat down with Makenna and her mother, Dawn before the wedding, I finally processed the words “June” and “Palm Springs” …together…..! As fate would have it, the weekend of the wedding, the weather dropped from 107 on Monday to a mere 89 on Friday! It was lovely!! The wedding took place at The O’Donnell House which over looks the city of Palm Springs. Makenna and Jordan (and probably Dawn too) decided on having a photo booth as an alternative to table shots of their guests. Since we brought in the photo booth, I also had the privilege of bringing in another photographer to shoot we with me for the day. Mediha DiMartino is a staff photographer at the Daily Bulletin. Mediha did a wonderful, wonderful job. The first photo in the slide show was taken by Mediha. It’s my favorite from the day. So sweet! Thanks Mediha!
