Life Church – Victorville

About 3-4 times a year I photograph Life Church for their various events.  This past Sunday they had a backpack outreach where they gave backpacks and school supplies to local children.  Since I’ve photographed there a few times, I wanted to challenge myself to give them  something a little different so I set up some lights.   I really love the feel of this type of lighting.  I’m afraid I’m hooked on it.

One of my favorite images of the day was this one of my friend Anne.

Kimbell & Dollie

Dollie and Kimbell were married at Life Church last Sunday in Victorville.  True to form, all of the members of Life Church pulled together to make this happen for Dollie and Kimbell in about a months time!  WOW!  They might of been short on time but not on love for this couple.

Eugene and Irene Engagement Part 2

I couldn’t help my self. I love to put together slide shows. I’m trying out my new blog template slide show feature. I’m still wrestling with myself as to if I should continue to put up slide shows. I look around at other photographers to check out what they are doing (don’t tell any one!) and notice that very few photographers put up slide shows on their blogs. I think to myself….do they know something that I don’t know? Am I committing a major marketing faux pas? I’m clueless on this one. Slide shows are so much fun. Everyone should be doing them. The older I get, the less I’m willing to try to fit in. Mostly, I’m pretty lazy and it would take some effort. I’m also giving in on my sun flare addition. When I was walking and talking with Eugene and Irene we had a quick conversation about the sun flare. Eugene probably didn’t know what I was up to because he couldn’t see what I was seeing but he did mention that I seem to like a certain kind of light. If I don’t have some sun in an image, I feel a little disappointment. The sun is like a little bit of the eternal showing up for an image and I’m always looking for a some of that.
Here you go, a slide show.

The Jessica Claire Workshop

After three trips to Home Depot and still not having the proper parts to install my new dishwasher, I’ve moved on to more pleasant things, liking blogging my recent Jessica Claire Workshop!  Yes…..much better.  I really haven’t seen anything like what she had set up for us to shoot.  It was AMAZING!  Because it rained all morning, the location had to be changed a few times and we ended up shooting at the community club house.   There were roughly six scenes set up that were set up FULL of super cute details.  I’ll post the details in another post but here a few of my favorite images of the Troy and Aimee Grover who modeled for the workshop.  Troy’s blog  is:http://blog.troygrover.com/

Praveen

Blogging is a one sided conversation.  I guess it’s not totally one sided because I usually have a conversation with myself as to what I should say in my post.  I start thinking about little things that happen during a shoot and begin weaving them together with other thoughts to try express something that I would like to remember.   Sometimes the conversation spills  out and my husband will ask me who I’m talking to.  Well….myself, of course!  Isn’t that obvious!   Rashmi called me to come to her home at take some pictures of her two children, Praveen and Uma.   As it happened, Uma had taken a nap that day and was sleeping when I arrived so I spent quite a bit of time with Praveen.  When Uma did wake up,  she wasn’t interested in having a stranger follow her around taking pictures.  I really can’t blame her.  It’s hard to wake up after a good nap much less be excited about being photographed.  Instead of forcing the issue, Rashmi just let it go.  Refreshing.  I only made two images of Uma that day with her tentative permission.

Here’s Praveen.
